Description
On offer here is a VERY RARE UK original 1963 mono 3rd pressing of the Please Please Me LP by The Beatles with the extra 33 1/3 text on both labels. This is the very first pressing on the yellow & black Parlophone label after the original Gold & Black pressings.
The labels on this pressing have ‘The Parlophone Co’ rims but do not have the ‘Recording First Published’ text, and also they do not have the ‘Sold In UK’ text (see photos) but they do have the extra small ‘33 1/3’, identifying it as a very rare third press.
This copy comes in a correct VERY RARE FIRST ISSUE laminated Ernest J Day sleeve with the Angus McBean credit in the lower right corner of the front cover (see photo).
The matrix numbers are Side 1 – XEX 421-1N & Side 2 – XEX 422-1N. Catalogue number is PMC 1202. Mothers & stampers are: Side 1 – RM 1 & Side 2 – RR 1.
The record is very strictly graded in VG/VG+ condition, there are some light hairline marks & scratches on both sides but it still shines quite nicely and this is a really good copy of this very rare record. As usual with these original thick vinyl original 60s pressings, it plays through really well and sounds great though with the odd bit of background noise etc.
The original flipback laminated EJ Day rare first issue cover is also very strictly graded in GOOD condition with tearing and damage to the lower rear flap, part of the top rear flap is missing and there is a stain on the rear (see photo).
The labels are really nice with no tears or writing on them. There is some very minor spindle wear.
Comes with original Emitex inner sleeve in really nice condition with no tears though with some minor creasing.
A very nice copy of a classic Beatles rarity, although the cover is worn the record is very nice. Bid with confidence, check my feedback. This is another item from my extensive Beatles collection and I have been collecting Beatles records for over 40 years.
