This is an original 1969 FIRST pressing of THE STOOGES by THE STOOGES. As you can see it is an ELEKTRA GOLD LABEL PROMO PRESSING. These gold label promo pressings are the very first to come off the production line at the record plant. They are made in tiny numbers and sent out to media  people mostly DJ`s but also journalists whom the record company feel can promote  the Stooges new album.For those reasons they are very highly prized by fans of the  group and record collectors in general.
The sleeve is a very thick card stock with a paste back shot of the band on the reverse  of the jacket. If you double click the pictures you will see (front jacket) a punch hole to the left top and slight ring wear and there is a hairline scratch that goes  across the hair of Scott Asheton and the face of Dave Alexander. The back of the sleeve also has slight wear to the bottom. The spine strangely has no writing on it at all. That`s is not to say it has  been worn away, but unlike all the other pressings of this LP I have owned over the years ,this sleeve has never had any writing on it. So the sleeve is in Very Good plus condition. The vinyl is exceptionally heavy, noticeably heavier than a stock copy. It has a few light scuff marks  on side one visible when the record is tilted in the light and some very light hairlines also but no feelable scratches.Side two also has very light hairlines but again nothing too bad and no feelable marks. The record plays superbly all the way with no skips jumping and no skipping. There is still a lovely high luster sheen to both sides of the vinyl so im happy to grade it VERY GOOD ++ .Double click the pictures and have a look at those beautiful gold Elektra promo labels . There is this items appeal...because this means serious STOOGES rarity ! 
The Stooges records have been rising in value steadily over the last few years and it`s not so long  ago you could pick up a Stooges debut and Funhouse First UK pressings for £50 or £60. Now you  would need to write a check for ten times that amount and rising ! To the completest collector this  impossible to locate GOLD LABEL PROMO PRESSING is a must. After the Stooges recent tours, their induction into the Rock n Roll the book total hall of fame,the excellent book Total Chaos and the film  Gimme Danger the Stooges profile has been raised considerably . So the value of their rare records is  certain to soar ! For those of you building your Stooges collection This great item is a must !
