Description
This is an auction for an Original copy of the HARD TO FIND 1959 LABEL DOG ON TOP EP release Elvis Presley - A Touch Of Gold (Volume 1) released in the USA.
The record itself (EPA-5088 Black label DOG ON TOP) is in EXCELLENT- / VERY GOOD+ condition.
There are some light visible marks/scratches but nothing too deep or drastic and this retains some of it's natural sheen.
This is also a 1st pressing as indicated by the 1s on the trail off on both sides.
The centre labels are CLEAN and have NO WRITING but have a small taped sticker on one side(see photos)
The THICK CARDBOARD picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2016 as $80 in the condition it is in now (which i would say is EXCELLENT- / VERY GOOD+ ) for the sleeve alone!!!
This sleeve is in reasonable condition for the age.(see photos)
The only things that stops this from grading higher is the starts of some ringwear / creases /scuffs.
On the plus side as well there are NO SPLITS, RIPS,TEARS or WRITING
This is also the RARE corrected picture sleeve with the word "OF" correctly centred in between Touch and Gold. (early editions missed the word "OF" out and it was squeezed in at the side)
This also has the added bonus of coming COMPLETE with the RARE BONUS PHOTO , which was only included in some of these releases!!
This is the ONLY copy of this i have had available in the last 20 years that comes WITH THE PHOTO CARD!!
This rare single sided card can sometimes command upto £100 on its own and what makes this even better is that the previous owner has not completed the dedication signature part of the signature! ( see the blank space by the word signature)
That all said this is a great affordable collection filler until that mint $350+ record , sleeve and bonus photo comes along!
The record is also stored in a separate paper sleeve to prevent anymore wear to this RARE sleeve!!
Overall 2 years ago this was valued at $250+(£195 approx) .
I dont have a current price guide but i would say at least £200+.
THIS WOULD SERVE AS A GREAT AFFORDABLE COMBINATION OF RECORD, PHOTO AND SLEEVE UNTIL THAT MINT $350+ COPY COMES ALONG!!!!
With a LOW START and NO RESERVE you might be able to grab yourself a bargain!!!
