Description
Rare original 1965 US first pressing of The Alegre All Stars – Way Out (Vol. IV) on Alegre Records (LPA-844). This album is a cornerstone of mid-1960s Latin jazz and salsa, featuring dynamic descarga, mambo, bolero, guaracha, and jazz-infused rhythms.
Highlights include “Manteca”, a Latin jazz classic originally by Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo, as well as energetic numbers like “El Guajiro De Cunaguá” and “Ensayo Pa’La Luna.” The record features stellar performances by Charlie Palmieri (piano, leader), Bobby Rodriguez (bass), Kako (timbales), Orlando Marin (timbales), Willie Rosario (percussion), and Chamaco Ramirez (vocals).
A rare piece for collectors of vintage salsa, descarga sessions, and Latin jazz ensembles, capturing the vibrant sound of the Alegre All Stars in their early years.
