Description
This is a 1962 ORIGINAL - NOT A REPRO, NOT A LATER REISSUE - U.S. Regal Records 45 containing the FIRST 1962 RECORDING of the 'Northern soul' classic 'Played Out Playgirl' from Arthur Freeman, which he re-recorded for Excello Records five years later in 1967 when the song became extremely popular in the Carolina 'beach music' and 'Northern soul' clubs. It is Regal Records catalog number 660R-7257. B-side is a soulful ballad titled 'I Can't Understand'. Regal Records was a small Fort Pierce, Florida label - As stated above, this recording of 'Played Out Playgirl' is a totally different earlier take from the later Excello recording. Condition of record is conservatively a sparkling NM- with all original gloss and just a couple of extremely light surface marks which only show up under strong light, cannot be felt, and will not affect play. There are also two or three very small and slight bumps in the play surface, these are a very slight pressing defect and also have absolutely no effect on play, I have play-tested the record over these areas, the music is pressed right into the tiny bumps. Record plays very nicely with almost no surface noise. Labels have no real flaws worth mentioning. Please e-mail me with any questions.
