This is an authentic 3rd State “Butcher Cover”, meaning the original trunk cover slick was peeled to reveal the butcher image underneath. This is not a reproduction or reissue — it is a genuine peeled example.

⚠️ CONDITION — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

This is a heavily worn, lower-grade 3rd State example and should be considered a filler copy for collectors, not a display-quality piece.

The front cover shows significant peel damage from the removal of the trunk slick. The peel was not professionally executed and there is extensive paper loss across multiple areas of the cover, including portions where the butcher image is partially missing or obscured. The surface exhibits tearing, rough texture, and uneven finish consistent with an aggressive or incomplete peel.

There is widespread surface wear, including scuffing, abrasions, staining, discoloration, and age toning. The cover has a generally distressed appearance, and the artwork is not fully intact or clean. Cover also needs to be glued at bottom as it's split.

Edges and corners show moderate to heavy wear, including fraying, rounding, and creasing. There is visible edge rubbing and handling wear throughout. Seams and spine show age-related wear and should be considered fragile, with possible weakness typical of vintage covers in this condition. Bottom seam is split and will require repair/regluing.

The back cover shows noticeable age toning, discoloration, and surface wear, along with marks and residue from age and storage. Overall presentation is consistent with a well-handled vintage record of this era.
