The Beatles' Yesterday And Today, with the infamous "butcher" cover !!! One of the most sought after Beatles' records due to it's controversial and rare nature.
The reason for the record's scarcity lies in the fact that copies with this cover never actually made it out to the public back in 1966 during its original release. As the story goes, advance copies were sent to DJ's and record reviewers who immediately responded with negative feedback to the cover (depicting the Beatles dressed as butchers with dismembered baby doll parts). Capitol then recalled all the copies (around 750,000) from distributors to replace the cover, a costly move that subsequently created a costly record! Aside from the cover, the music remains the same and includes classics like "Drive My Car," "Nowhere Man," "Yesterday," "We Can Work It Out," and more.
I purchased this Beatles Butcher Cover at the 1979 Chicago Beatles Festival. It has been in my collection since and was never moved or displayed. The cover only is in wonderful shape for being almost 50 years old. I have been asked over the years what state this cover is and that I am not sure. I will let the buyer decide that. Side seams has wear and some separation. Corners have miner dings and slight seperation. Back of cover is lightly soiled. PLEASE view all photos closely as they are large part of this items description!!!! This pressing is on the Capital rainbow label.
