Description
This is a nice, U.S. stereo pressing second state butcher cover copy of the Beatles - Yesterday and Today LP released Capitol Records in 1966. This is ST-2553. In the dead wax on Side 1 it is inscribed: ST1-2553-A1 and on Side 2: ST2-2553-A5. Second state butcher cover! The trunk cover is fully pasted over the original butcher cover. If you carefully look at the photo of the front cover you will notice one of the most tell-tale signs of the butcher cover beneath the trunk cover, the black V of Ringo Starr's sweater as well as his head off to the right of the trunk. There is a 2 printed on the lower right hand corner on the back of the jacket. The record is in VG- condition with some surface scuffs and light scratches. It plays fairly well with some light surface noise. The record labels are in VG condition. There are initials written in black marker on the Side 2 label. The jacket is in VG condition with some shelfwear and edgewear. There is a small one inch seam split on the bottom seam of the jacket which starts at the mouth of the jacket. The paste over trunk cover is still very nicely intact on the front of the jacket, with just a tiny part at the lower righthand corner (the same corner where the seam split is) where it has slightly come unglued to the jacket. There is also a name written in purple marker on the back of the jacket near the upper lefthand corner. All around a very solid second state butcher cover! We visually grade all our records for sale and grade both the record and the jacket. We go by general standards for grading, which are:
Mint (M) - an unplayed, new copy of a record. no visual defects!
Near Mint (NM) - a nearly perfect record that has usually only been played 1-3 times, in "like new" condition.
Very Good + (VG+) - record still in excellent condition but has minor signs of wear such as surface scuffs/light scratches that don't affect the play. jacket has minor signs of wear such as light ringwear, edgewear, shelfwear, and/or light creasing.
Very Good (VG) - record has more wear than VG+ and may have some slight surface noise, light pops, some scuffs or scratches. generally still a great playing copy. jacket may have more wear, writing, sticker residue, punch out/cut out holes or corners.
Very Good - (VG-) - record has noticeable groove wear, surface noise, scratches, and/or scuffs but still a decent playing copy. jacket has heavier wear and may have a small split seam.
Good + and Good (G+ and G) - record still plays without skipping but has considerable amounts of groove wear, surface noise, scuffs, and/or scratches. jacket has alot of wear and some defects such as split seams, heavy creasing, writing, marks, sticker residue, etc...
