WILLEM NYLAND:PIANO STUDIES SERIES 164 PART 1 GAGE HILL PRESS 196?
This record is difficult to classify. It is performed by pianist Willem Nyland, and appears to have been issued in the mid-1960's. Nyland was a chemist by profession as well as an accomplished pianist. He was also a renowned authority and teacher on the work of mystic and spiritualist George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, and this music is said to have been inspired by Gurdjieff. Through the teachings of Gurdjieff, psychedelic pioneers Richard Alpert (Baba Ram Dass) and Ralph Metzner are said to have become acquainted with Nyland, and with the aide of Timothy Leary, presented Nyland with a Steinway grand piano, on which he probably performed this recording
