Description
Early brown wax Direct Voice Recording 1890-ies
This record dates from the days that reproduction of records was technically not yet possible. So an artist had to record every time again to produce 1 record. Each record is unique! This record is nr 56 by the at that time famous Flemish artist of the Royal Flemish Academy in Brussels J. Willekens, titled: “Als men begint the vrijen” ( When one starts to fall in love) .The title and number is engraved by hand in the cylinder, and handwritten on a paper label, and stamped on the bottom of the box.
Text on the box is in Flemish and French saying: ”DiIRECT VOICE RECORDING” ; and “The boxes which do not have the signature of the artist must be seen as not ligit”
The brown wax record is having spots, but still shiny.( see photo’s). It plays with noise , but the recording can still be well heard ( in Flemish)
Nice piece of phono history!
