I will never compromise on quality, safe packaging – I NEVER use mailing envelopes that offer virtually no protection at all, and records WILL arrive damaged in them at some time as most record buyers will already know. Here, you get what you pay for – SAFE PACKING in BOXES using 7mm DOUBLE-WALL STIFFENERS including full side protection and bubble wrap, the records removed from the covers of course. All this very safe packing means I lose money on every box I post, but safe delivery is, and will always be paramount. You WILL see the difference when my packet arrives. Also, I will pay for insurance on any record that sells for over £100 at NO extra cost – that is UK and abroad. Also I aim to post the very same day after payment is received if possible. Label/Format: Harvest with customised Geesin/Waters picture. These have matt, very gently textured surfaces. This a genuine first pressing without the EMI box and flipbacked cover. Also including the ultimate first mother and stamper codes on the run-outs seen and described further down.

Label Conditions: Both very clean, fresh and attractive with just a very small few gentle and faint spindle marks on side two with barely any on one. Yes, another from the collection of hardly played records purchased new by one collector who put his records to tape. This highly elusive genuine ultimate first pressed record will prove incredibly hard to match or find better.

Rarity: Scarce, not a major seller and even largely overlooked by Pink Floyd fans of that time, even though it featured the them in a cameo role on the final song. Finding a copy of most challenging album with the 1G/1G stampers and hardly played will prove beyond difficult making this a rarer example.

Stamper Codes: 1 G / 1 G [the very first mothers and stamper codes, ‘G’ being the very first in rthe pressing sequence, so only a few hundred examples will ever have them. These are the most sort after by vinyl purists as they usually the very best sound available]

Brief Info: ‘The Body’ was a soundtrack album for a documentary about the human body. It was narrated by Vanessa Redgrave and Frank Finlay. The Avant garde Scottish composer Ron Geesin joins forces with Roger Waters of Pink Floyd to create an amazing journey into creativity. The last song ‘Give Birth to a Smile’ features The Pink Floyd but are uncredited on the record or sleeve. Issued between the two classic Floyd albums Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother, this is again experimental and at times challenging, and a must-have for fans of the early Floyd sound. It includes all manner of sounds with traditional guitars, strings and piano with sounds made by the human body including breathing, slapping, whispering, laughing and, err, others. There are vocals by Waters so the Pink Floyd sound is very much present throughout. An immensely challenging record with many very quiet passages and songs. Also one heavily reliant on pressing quality which often fails to deliver. This copy looks superb and appears little used, and it offers great sound with little unwanted, and few ever do. Being an ultimate first 1G/1G pressing and hardly played, it has the very best chance and this was a real pleasure to play-grade. This also includes a very fine cover that often wears very badly, especially the more fragile first print that includes the rear flipbacks that were quickly and subsequently dropped when it went to press again. Finding any copy of this with no issues is beyond difficult, and that no understatement. To date, this has to be very best and earliest example I have ever had to offer – a rare opportunity for fans and Pink Floyd collectors.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT: arguably better, this is one that is seldom seen without considerable wear and even damage on the back. A single format with a laminated front, and including the original flipbacks (later printings omitted them). This is a first issue cover. Printed and made in England by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Includes the Harvest promotional inner sleeve, again mostly omitted from later ones.

Lamination & Front: As stated already, this is the first issue cover, the second printing had a smooth, non-flipback back. An impressive looking front with fresh, clear and shiny laminate that has no lifting as such and minimal dulling or rim impression on what is a very revealing surface with an intense black background. There are very few creases either, the main blemish being a crinkle near the top right edge which is most likely an adhesion crinkle in manufacture and unlikely due to handling as the card beneath shows or creasing at all on this small area. Minus this small, minor issue, this front is up there with the very best I have seen and would be graded with at least one extra plus apart.

Cover Back: Instantly noticeable is the lack of ugly ring wear, rubbing and creasing. The main matt back panel has little to fault with minimal hint of any rubbing or even fingermarks/handling traces, that unusual because once applied, they are near impossible to remove. Lovely to see the flipbacks on this one, and only quite briefly available as such. All are solid with neat ends with minimal hint of any end burring or rubbing.

Top Edge: Quite straight and super-smooth with full laminate retention and barely worn at all, just a very small rub to the left corner tip.

Bottom Edge: As above, slightly less straight being very critical.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Still reasonably sharp with any thickening light. Record enters on this edge.

Spine and Text: A superb spine, and even this retains impressive fresh shine. Solid and again quite straight with minimal compression or bowing, the ends are pinched in manufacture. All text is perfect and unworn under the solid and uncracked laminate.

Corners: Any tip rubs or chips small/very small with very fine, and mostly excellent retained with no knocks.

Cover Summary: The relatively minor laminate crinkle described above apart, a very impressive example of this very elusive, first-print Harvest cover, one that will prove difficult to find much better. With few blemishes, this uncompromising and wear-prone cover should please many collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT(+): the Harvest promotional polylined inner has also survived the years very well with only gentle discolouration of the paper and light to near moderate browning of the seam area adhesive that few can hope to avoid totally. Any creasing little and light, the lining still intact and no edge splits.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(+)/(++): a superb visual copy that is very clean with equally fine shine and solidly pressed. A copy again appearing hardly played on all the evidence with any surface traces few, very light, wispy and faint as seen critically under bright light. No penetrating stylus scratches, viewed in average room light, little even registers. Unbanded playing surfaces and given how compact and fine they are in places, this is a visually amazing record that should please many, if not most collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing equipment, all listed further down.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This very challenging and quite ‘out-there’ album plays up to it’s high visual grading (and above). Offering strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sound minimal with no tracking issues* or inherent pressing noises. An album with some very quiet passages and songs, I have never heard a ‘perfect’ copy of this on vinyl, and I have heard several with crackle, pops and clicks, even on the cleanest looking copies. Well this rarer ultimate first 1G/1G pressing has little, although total silence I deem near impossible on this album. But few will be found better and my play-grade proved very enjoyable with any reminders of what was being played – a 50-year-old vinyl record – being polite and few. A copy to please many, if not most realistic collectors, it will prove very difficult to find much better, and certainly never earlier. Strong recommendation is mandatory for a this quality example, it has to be the very all-round original example I have seen or heard.

* As played-graded on a high-end Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge tracking at 2.2 grams. Records are a ‘contact’ format, and few will avoid the odd minor sound blemish.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
