VERY RARE VINYL : Paradyne Down To Amsterdam / Take Your Time
Here for sale is a very rare single which I understand is 1 of only 25 copies ever produced back in 1982 from a Record Label that no longer exists.

Had it so long I can't remember exactly when I got it but seem to recall it was at some gig back in the day. I have recently dug out my records which have been boxed up for the last 20 years and having a clear out.
There’s not a great deal of information around about the group, but I’ve pulled together some bits and pieces from various sources to provide a bit of background and also included some links which may provide additional aspects of the group, the label and the record.
Most music sites seem to categorize Paradyne as being part of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) genre, but eBay don't seem to have that option so listed under Heavy Metal.
The group were based in Chichester and played mainly around the South East and even headlined the Chichester Rock festival one year. They formed in the 70’s and were around until around 1983. This single is from 1982 and appears to be the only one they ever made, which is a shame as they were pretty good.
The Band line up was : Mark White (v,g), Paul White (g),John Biddiscombe (b) & Gary Halls (d)
This record is on the Airship label, a fairly short lived company based in Bognor Regis, and this Single is by all accounts the most prized collectible from that label with only 500 copies of the single ever pressed, but just 25 produced with a red label. According to reference sites the band could only afford to produce 500 singles and to have a professional label put on one side. A 'Paradyne' sticker was adhered to the other, white or red, with only 25 copies sporting the Red Label so these were even then very rare.
The one I have listed is 1 of the 25 very rare Red Label ones as is the one in the pictures above.
Copies of this are rarely available and I’ve only been able to trace a few references to other copies being sold before and none I can find available for sale today. It's not even clear how many of the original 25 still exist today. The last one I could find was sold in 2022 for £900.

The record only ever came with a generic paper sleeve and was never great quality, but it's there and as good a condition as you'd expect for something sold at gigs. The Record itself has rarely been played and based on Discogs condition definitions then I'd call this single 'Very Good'.
From what I can gather, this is a highly desired item for collectors but have little reference point beyond that. I have seen Vinyl prices significantly increase in recent years and therefore based my starting point on the rarity of this record and what more recent copies have sold for.

I would much prefer collection if possible as it always scares me to send valuable items by post. I can get it insured should there be an issue, but that won't replace the actual item if lost or damaged.
I'm happy to post but it will require not only the standard postage & packing costs but also needs to be well insured. This limits the number of companies which can be used and I don't think eBay have considered this when setting their 'postage limits' for this category. I will post with insurance included but only to standard charge UK mainland destinations.
