Description
One of the most treasured and sought-after lp's from Albert Ayler's discography....and one that rarely appears at auction (Five years ago a copy sold on eBay for $524). This copy, I believe, is in just as good, if not better condition.
This is the Original Danish Debut LP (Debut 144 Mono) in nearly* mint condition. ( *I'm being very critical here) Considering it's age it looks like a new record. Fantastic Condition.
I bought this LP used at Sounds Records, 20 St. Mark's Place, New York City in 1989. I have played the lp once transferring it to a digital audio file. Until I took the photos I've posted here, the lp has never been out of it's heavy-duty plastic sleeve that I've kept the record album stored in during the 23 years I've owned it. The record and the cover have never been cleaned with soap or solvents.
COVER- VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT CONDITION RECORD- NEAR MINT-MINT CONDITION
When I bought the album I peeled away a small round sales sticker on the front cover and in so doing puckered tiny parts underneath where it had been of the clear protecting film. You can see it in the upper left hand corner. It is very minor, but enough for the cover's condition to be classified as being in VG rather than Excellent shape. The back cover also had it's sticker removed (upper left corner) and it has left a tiny discoloration. I haven't tried to restore or clean it and left it "as is".
As for the music itself, this is early Ayler blossoming into full command of his mature aesthetic as a composer and improvisor. The recording quality and the trio of Don Cherry, trumpet; Gary Peacock, bass; and Sunny Murray, drums; is perhaps as good as Ayler ever had. The sound is immediate, clear and brilliant done by an unlisted but very empathetic recording engineer. If I were to choose one Albert Ayler recording as a desert island disc, this is the one.
I ship Fed-Ex. The lp will be shipped immed. wrapped twice in a sandwich of bubbl-wrap and cardboard. I will take every precaution to make sure that it arrives in pristine condition.
I will answer all serious inquiries.
