For sale is an unusual and undocumented issue of Little Gigi soul 45 "Take The Bitter With The Sweet/I'm Hurt And So Is My Heart", on the black and gold Soul Records label. Both sides rate NM... super clean. This comes from the estate of a Washington DC DJ whose estate I bought out several years ago, who had a lot of promotional soul 45s, including a few copies of this. I sold all but this one about five years ago, and this is my last copy. I believe this to be an early promo of this record, which is usually found on the blue or yellow Select Records label. This one has a little more information than the Select issue, including the first initials of the multiple songwriters of each song, as well as a killer black and gold label with a pair of cocktail glasses and straws. It also has a stamp from Bell Studios in New York, where it must have been recorded. I can only guess that a few of these shipped out before the label changed its name to Select and printed another, more common batch. After extensive searching, I have not been able to find reference to this issue anywhere and now believe it likely that the half-dozen I found in the estate may be the only ones extant. Scarce.
