Description

For sale is an unusual and undocumented issue of Little Gigi soul 45 "Take The Bitter With The Sweet/I'm Hurt And So Is My Heart", on the black and gold Soul Records label. "Bitter" sides rates M-... as-new. "I'm Hurt" side rates VG+. I found a small caché of these in the estate of a Washington DC DJ who had a lot of promotional soul 45s, and this must be some early promo of this record, which is usually found on the blue or yellow Select Records label. This one has a little more information than the Select issue, including the first initials of the multiple songwriters of each song, as well as a killer black and gold label with a pair of cocktail glasses and straws. It also carries the stamp of Bell Studios (the one in New York City) in the runoff wax, where it must have been recorded. I can only guess that some of these shipped out to this DJ before the label changed its name to Select and printed another, more common batch. After extensive searching, I have not been able to find reference to this issue anywhere. Scarce. This is one of only a couple I have left
