Description

An original 1st press of Who's Next on the UK Track label from 1971. Matrix 1/2. Etching 'MG12888'. Please note labels are matt and flat, NOT shiny and ridged - as per 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original 'Marketed by Polydor' MacNeill cover with pinched spine. 
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a few light marks per side, and one very superficial trail across side 2. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is both minor and infrequent. All we could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. A blindingly good rendition from an audio perspective. There's just one deviation in the openings seconds of side 2. In the intro to "Getting In Tune" I'm picking up about four clicks. As soon as the actual vocal begins, and the song starts for proper, - they're gone. So, a small price to pay for what is a very fine playing 1st press.
Cover (Ex-) In impress condition and looking a good bit better than most examples that have survived. Very nice clean front and rear with only very light handling - much much better than what usually surfaces. There's a bit of edge wear along the bottom edge, but over it's quite minor. The text is well above average with only one slight patch of wear that obscures the last three digits of the catalogue number - otherwise aok. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
