Description

An original 1st press of Big Hits on the UK Decca label from 1966. Matrix 4W/4W. Stampers 1M/1H. Please note many of these unboxed Decca stereo copies are offered up as "1st press" - and are NOT. Take note that for it to qualify as 1st pressing it must exhibit the deep groove which would have been present at 1st release [Xmas-1966], rather than later in 67,68,or 69. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo gatefold cover with the photo internal pages attached. Also included is the correct inner sleeve for this release. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing deep or troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. By and large a very nice clean player with not all that much to complain at. The only track where interference is noticeable is in Lady Jane. We're detecting a couple of ticks and a few crackles. Barring that expect a very respectable level of performance.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has been cared for down the years. Very nice clean front which is exhibiting very little creasing at all. The rear is equally good with just a couple of light indentations. The interior looks great and doesn't seen to be heavily thumbed. All pages are intact and seem to be attached although a couple of the photo pages might be working their way loose. There's edge wear, but nothing excessive. The text on the spine is still mostly legible, with just a couple of spots of minor wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Very little ageing. No spits or markings.
