Description

An original 1st mono press of BB on UK Decca. Matrix 6/2. Stampers 1-UH/1-CK. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono gatefold. There's also the original Decca lined inner sleeve from the time. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. There are a few light marks per side, perhaps one or two are just getting semi-feelable [and do sound momentarily...see detail below]. Remember - this is a heavy '68 copy - it can handle a few marks like this - no sweat. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with two deviations per side. Quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. The mono copies are definitely worth tracking down if you can afford it! This copy plays superbly - not perfectly - but to a very high standard. Plays pretty quiet into the lower-key moments/tracks and this important. By and large an impressive rendition. The only deviations are... a couple of clicks right at the start of SYMPATHY. They occur before the vocal kicks in - so, in a way, that's the best place for them! A couple more in 'Expectations', then early in 'STREETFIGHTING' and 'Prodigal Son'. No big deal - SFM is loud anyway so they are not all that distracting. 'Factory Girl' and 'Salt Of The Earth' are fussy tracks - and both play real nice and clean, here. Provided you can live with a couple of minor issues as listed - the rest of the LP is total knock-out. Just lush mono audio with minimal background - love it!
Cover (Vg+) A bit of light ageing evident front and rear - but still maintains the aesthetic. Even with it being slightly off-white it still retains a very majestic look. There are a couple of surface level scratches on the front - the rear fares marginally better. The interior looks real nice - no issues. There's a bit of edge wear in places [mainly confined to the spine]. I'd say the spine is about average and the only slight let down. A bit worn in a few spots with some stress creasing. There's also a tiny stain right at the foot of the spine. The text is largely legible except for the word 'Rolling'. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. No splits.
