Description

An original 1st stereo press of ACOBO's on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1G/1G. Stampers 3M/3GA. The labels are absolutely consistent with 1st stereo press. Publishing dates/credits are all found over on the left hand side of the label. The 'stereo' text is much larger than copies just a couple of months later. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Ernest J Day cover - these are believed to be amongst the first printed. Also included is the original black and white Emi advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolutely superb condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of very superficial marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity....And, usually, the problem with this title is that it is surfaces having seen a lot of use. Often the sound quality is 'OK', but not impressive. But this copy, due to its provenance and high level of preservation, is seriously impressive. The sort that would be very appealing to a collector. All the Beatles hits in tip top condition and plays really really clean. Even those super fussy tracks Yesterday & Michelle, which are notoriously difficult to find playing clean, play with almost no back ground. Interference really is very very minor. We couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. Certainly the best 1st stereo I've auditioned - a lovely copy by any standard.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and made all the more interesting by the fact it is the first version - the E J Day cover. The front is practically faultless - shiny like new, without ageing or creasing [very unusual]. The rear is just as good - with no ageing at all...super hard find. All flipbacks are perfectly intact. Only very minor issue stops it getting a full Ex+...down in the bottom left sector there are a couple of minor blemishes and one low-level crease. Edge wear is super-light to the point where the openings are sharp along with the corners. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and lies totally flat. It would be nigh on impossible to improve upon this example.
Inner (Ex) Great condition with barely any ageing. No writing or marking. One tiny side split which is 1c.m.
