BRIDGE... a dead easy find right?
Nope - a decent copy is way harder to find than you might imagine.<<<
An original 1st press of BOTW on UK CBS from 1970. Matrix A2/B1. Very nice heavy-set vinyl unlike a lot of the later copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original heavy-card cover with front lamination - which is uncredited. Well worth insisting on these 1st issues they really do feel a lot more substantial than later copies. Please note there's a minor vertical line running down the front - bisecting Simon and Garfunkel.. this is not damage, but rather a print error from 1970. WHAT IS INTERESTING ON THIS COPY IS...>>> THE LABEL MENTIONS THAT THE ALBUM TITLE IS 'BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED **WATERS**. Clearly this was a major goof up and you'd like to think they put this right pretty sharpish!
Vinyl (Ex) In marvellous condition and has only seen light careful use. This copy has not been hammered to death like the vast majority of copies out there. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very slight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. That might not sound all that impressive - but believe me when I say that, on this title, that's a minor miracle. Lush rich clean audio throughout. Apart from being one of the defining albums of the seventies CBS did a fantastic job on the audio. Shame that most folks won't really get hear the full gamut. But on an original 1st copy that plays clean - you can start to witness just how darn good this album was [in all aspects]. A clean player throughout - barely any background. All I could make out were a couple of very slight [background] ticks in the opening notes of 'CONDOR'. A couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. Clean into the slow builds. Even the super fussy track FLR plays real sweet. This copy has the energy for the full-on sections, but the dexterity to deliver the intricate moments too. This copy is basically acing it all round.
Cover (Ex) Again, more difficult than you might at first realise to find in decent condition. The lamination always helps and that is true here - nice lush presentation of colours. No creasing or issues on the front. A nice clean and unaged rear - really nice. Hardly any edge wear. The spine is 99% intact - very impressive. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
