After the excesses of the first album, sheer economics forced the band to try a cheaper route. With newly recruited cellist Claire Deniz, they hopped across to Copenhagen (where they recorded with Sandy Denny) to record a much more acoustic folk-based album than the first. Even then, a sign of things to come, the album included a lengthy epic inspired by Arthurian legend - "The Vision Of The Lady Of The Lake" - which featured a contribution on keyboards from young sessions player Rick Wakeman.
Track Listing:
Side 1: The Weary Song / Dragonfly / I Turned My Face Into The Wind / Josephine, For Better Or For Worse / Another Day
Side 2: 'Till The Sun Comes Shining Through / Young Again / The Vision Of The Lady Of The Lake / Close Your Eyes
LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and barely any evident spindle traces. THIS COPY HAS CLEARLY SEEN VERY LITTLE PLAY
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, almost LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN. There are some superficial surface marks but these have absolutely NO audio consequence. When held up to the light the DEEP RED nature of this pressing is clearly evident (I apologise for the poor photograph of the vinyl colour but I found it very difficult to capture as the camera has to be pointed directly into the light)
VINYL Audio: TREMENDOUS, CRYSTAL CLEAR, DEEP, RICH audio reproduction. SENSATIONAL DELIVERY THROUGHOUT. There are NO jumps, NO sticks, NO scratches and NO clicks or pops. SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. Plays to an extremely high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion and must be graded an EXCELLENT+ for audio (practically FLAWLESS playback). NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The matte and textured sleeve is also in EXCELLENT+ condition. Apart from a couple of small marks to the front surface (please see photos) the sleeve is CRISP, SHARP and FRESH with practically NO wear to its edges and a BEAUTIFUL CLEAN, CLEAR spine (pinched at the top and bottom) with all text BOLD and fully legible. OUTSTANDING SLEEVE
LYRIC INSERT: The insert is in beautiful NEAR MINT condition - CLEAN BRIGHT WHITE with little evidence of ever being handled
PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT MY PICTURES - I USUALLY TAKE QUITE A FEW SO YOU CAN GET A CLEAR INDICATION OF EVERY DETAIL OF THE ITEM
I HAVE UPLOADED AS MANY PICTURES AS I CAN BUT I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SUPPLY ANY ADDITIONAL PHOTOS ON REQUEST
THIS REALLY IS A BEAUTIFUL VERY FIRST UK PRESSING OF STRAWBS' SUPERB SECOND LP AND A FINER PLAYING COPY WOULD BE VERY HARD TO LOCATE INDEED
AS WITH ALL MY RECORDS THIS HAS A LOW START PRICE AND NO RESERVE
