VERY RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER!  +A AND +B MATRIX ENDINGS! TOP! TOP! AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES!    VERY SOUGHT AFTER AND COLLECTABLE PROGRESSIVE ROCK ALBUM!

Another awesome original 1969 album!  From my personal collection in absolutely superbe condition throughout! This album by the late ''SPOOKY TOOTH'' , being their last album with the original line up! in my opinion arguably their best ever! This is highly collectable and sought after This being the earliest possible pressing!,, look Textured Pink Island labels featureing the Eye logo and the original 1st issue 'Grey Tinted' E.Day & co gate fold cover (only 1st issues later issues have the mauve tinted gatefolds) original!  1st issue ! Please note! There were many later Island label variations in a very short period of time! The 1st variation was this label variation on offer with textured labels. Important note! Please do not confuse this with the same label variation with 'smooth labels' the earliest was textured!  I have been collecting these Island pressings and the variations for over 35 years and by far the rarest are the textured label variations, and they are the earliest and rarest to find! Later issues of this album were released on the Pink Island label with the white  'pink I' logo and are the most common to find! The original 1st issue E.Day gatefold sleeve is in superb condition,, I can't emphisise enough at how rare this is to find like this, very important note! This is the original 1st issue gatefold  'Grey Tint' (see photos) The vinyl is the thick chunky and heaviest type only found on the earliest pressings,  very importantly the audio is truly awesome throughout and this plays through without any loud clicks or pops, with real deep vibrant bassey feel which can not be found like this on any other format in my opinion! A nice playable and very collectable copy, genuine 1st UK pressing 42 years old like this!

Spooky Tooth was an English progressive rock band from the late 1960s. They faded into obscurity afterwards.

Crucial to their sound was their instrumentation; they were one of the few acts within the rock forum of the time to adopt the twin keyboard approach (both an organ and a piano player) alongside The Band (whose "The Weight" was recorded by Spooky Tooth as a single in 1968) and Procol Harum!

They formed in October 1967, out of a combination of The Ramrods (1960 - late 1963), The V.I.P.'s (late 1963 - April 1967) and Art (April - October 1967). The line-up changed several times, but typically was -

• Mike Harrison (born Michael Harrison, 3 September 1942, Carlisle, Cumbria) (keyboards/vocals)
• Greg Ridley (born Alfred Gregory Ridley, 23 October 1942, Aspatria, Cumbria ó died 19 November 2003, in Java, Spain) (bass guitar/vocals)
• Luther (Luke) Grosvenor (born Luther James Grosvenor, 23 December 1946, Evesham, Worcestershire) (guitar/vocals)
• Mike Kellie, (born Michael Kellie, 24 March 1945, Birmingham, Warwickshire) (drums)
• Gary Wrigtt, (born 26 April 1943, Cresskill, New Jersey, U.S.) (organ/vocals)

1969's Spooky Two LP is generally considered to be the best effort by the group and was the last album release by the original lineup. It included the song "Better By You, Better Than Me", which was covered by Judas Priest. Ridley joined Humble Pie in 1969 and was replaced by Andy Leigh (in time for 1970's album Ceremony) who went on to Matthews Southern Comfort with ex-Fairport Convention vocalist Ian Matthews. The experimental nature of Ceremony received mixed reviews and following its release Wright also bowed out. The core of Harrison, Grosvenor and Kellie struggled on for one more album, aptly titled The Last Puff, completed with friends from Joe Cockers Grease Band!

They broke up in the autumn of 1970, however after solo efforts Harrison and Wright reformed Spooky Tooth in September 1972 with a different (and frequently changing) line-up. The best known member of these line-ups (from March 1973 to September 1974) was Mick Jones (born Michael Leslie Jones, 27 December 1944, London) (guitar / vocals), later in Foreigner and, from February - May 1974, Mike Patto (born Michael Thomas McCarthy, 22 September 1942, Cirencester, Gloucestershire) (vocals) replaced Harrison for the 1974 release The Mirror. The group then split again in September 1974 !

The Vinyl

this is the original thick and chunky heavier type of vinyl with deeper grooves! Later press were much more flimsier and much less robust. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping!

On initial inspection the vinyl looks awesome I find it hard to even see a blemish on the vinyl surface!,, still retaining its original sheen from new! Looking at the vinyl under very strong light could possibly reveal some minor surface marks\scuffs or sleeve type removal marks , (I must say that I find it hard to see any marks at all), Importantly at least, these will not, and do not, cause any loud clicks or pops on my systems!

The Audio Quality

 I have played this album at very high volume on a top system three times prior to this listing! The audio is absolutely awesome through out! (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all! I heard (no) loud clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps! The audio is cristal clear and vibrant throughout with stunningly vibrant bassey feel and exceptional seperation! Please note! Please allow for the odd very light static ticks\crackle  (not) consistant throughout the audio perhapes only really noticable during the odd quiet place only! Please note! To be highly critical I only heard two or three very light static ticks in one place (very very light) and not loud clicks or pops at all, even in between tracks it is nice and quiet. I must emphisise that the audio is awesome and it will be hard to surpass for an original 42 year old vinyl! I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! Top! Top! audio on all frequencies!! This audio must grade at least excellent to Excellent plus in my opinion! even played at loud volume!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality! Please allow for the odd static type crackle\ticks here and there, (not) consistant throughout the audio! Remember that this is a genuine 42 year old vinyl that would have originaly been played on a 42 year old system!

Important note! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years or more! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks\crackle A constant clean before each play is recommended! This will reduce any static crackle and enhance the  audio quality!

The labels

These feature the original 1st issued 'TEXTURED' pink island labels with the eye logo (only earliest press) and are absolutely superbe! with  limited amount of spidering that can only be seen angled in light! (THIS LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS ONLY EVER HAD MINIMAL PLAY ONLY!) UNBELIEVABLY RARE LIKE THIS!

The Cover

An awesome original 1st press/1ST issue (unlaminated) gatefold cover printed by E.Day & co. London in superb condition, earliest and rarest with 'grey tint' (later press feature the more common mauve tint) ! (no) splits or tares!! Amaizingly (no) real creases to talk of and (no) real nasty storageware to mention. Any rubbing or ware is minimal and you would have to look hard to notice mainly at the edges or at the spine edge, and perhaps the odd indent if looked at at an angle to the light and if one was extreemely criticle you could say that there is very slight rippleing at the front but not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion. !  This will be very hard to surpass (AN ORIGINAL 1st issue  42 YEARS OLD ! UNBELEIVABLY RARE)  Must be at least excellent in my opinion!
