Description

An original 1st press of TTPD on the UK Decca label from 1969. Matrix 1W/2W - very 1st cut]. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original hexagonal cover with internal flipbacks expoed [per 1st issue]. Also included is the original blue and white hexagonal inner sleeve. So 100% genuine and 100% complete. We will ship with the LP housed in a 1969 blue and white inner sleeve for protection.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Not quite clean enough to hit the top grades, but a very decent and assured rendition. There's little to pick fault with here. Just the odd bit of light static in the odd place [absolutely nothing invasive]. It's the lower key tracks where it might be slightly noticeable e.g. Ruby Tuesday & Rainbow.. but nothing upfront, or that is likely to detract much at all. I picked up a few ticks in the back half of '2,000 Light Years'. But, overall, most certainly an impressive player.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) A remarkable looking cover. This hexagonal shaped version is truly very very difficult to find in this sort of condition. I most certainly have never cast my eyes upon a better preserved example. Front and back are borderline perfect. Usually this cover will exhibit laminate bubbling, scuffing of the edges, light fade - or all of the above. But this example is truly a one-off and can only have survived like this having been archived for a large part of its lifetime. Lovely shiny finish to the front and rear - without light fade or bubbling. The image quality is stunning - and the only minor detractor is two light impressions on the front. You'd have to tilt the cover into the light and examine closely to even make these out. There's no sign of the usual edge curl or wear - it truly is a remarkable sight. The interior is immaculate too without issues. And if that weren't good enough - take a look at the spine. On this particular version it is close on impossible to find 100% intact. No fading. No wear. No splitting at the ends. It must have been archived to have survived like this. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity..sweet!
Inner (Ex+) Unbelievable. No matter how long you look you would never find one preserved like this. It looks like it was printed yesterday! Zero fading or ageing. No wear or creasing. No splits at all. As a result we will ship in the spare inner so as not to risk this museum piece!
