The Rolling Stones : Let It Bleed 1A / 1A + Mint Original Poster
This 1A/1A first mono pressing on the famous unboxed red Decca label plays with immaculate audio for the vast majority and the vinyl itself is visually stunning! Not only that but it also has the highly collectable first 1A/1A matrix and a mega early stamper!! Decca used BUCKINGHAM for their numbering system so S1 was made with the 25th stamper but S2 with only the 2nd stamper. There aren't many 1A/1A pressings out there with audio such as this let alone one with a single stamper!
Decca pressed between 1500 - 2000 records per stamper so if a record was produced towards the end of that line there could be some deterioration in audio quality. However, I honestly believe both sides were 'stamped' very early on in the process judging by the immaculate clarity on offer. The fact that this record has only been lightly played also helps of course. The majority plays with impeccable quality but the version of 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' is absolutely stunning!
The original stickered cover is very clean for its age and includes the original red mono inner with the correct 'London Bach Choir' credit. The famous poster is in pristine Mint condition.

Visual grading
There cannot be many 1A/1A vinyls that look as stunning as this! For such a collectable and rare pressing it really is a beautiful example of its kind. It still has a lovely glossy sheen and is remarkably clean for its age. Unlike so many Stones LPs it was not taken to parties and played to death in the late 60s/early 70s and you can tell just by looking at it that it has no groove wear and there is not very much spindle wear either. This record has always been carefully handled and only lightly played. All these factors account for the quality of the audio which, as detailed below, plays with sublime quality for the majority. Visually it is so impressive and there are only a small number of hairlines on each side with only 2/3 on S1 that are a little more visible. S2 at first glance looks 'as new' and it is only on closer inspection that you can detect a couple of faint hairlines and a few tiny 'speck' type marks on one area that have no affect on the audio. There are no scratches or markings and the run out grooves are also spotlessly clean. This is a stunning example of a genuine very early first mono pressing.
Play grading
The intro on 'Gimme Shelter' is a perfect example of a superbly preserved vinyl. There is next to no static, and for the opening few grooves to play with such incredible clarity is a real rarity. The clarity here is stunning and I cannot emphasise enough just how clear the audio is. The depth of sound once the bass 'kicks in' is truly superb and the quality does not decrease. There is no distortion on the vocal and there is no 'muddiness' to the sound whatsoever. This is without doubt the most impressive version of this classic I have heard in many a year and to think it is on such an early 1A/1A first pressing! It grades as Near Mint although the vast majority is better than that if I'm honest! The only obvious 'background' is a little static on the fade out.
The acoustic intro on 'Love In Vain' plays very clearly from the very first note with only some light static but there is certainly no intrusive crackle. About 15 seconds in there is one crackle/swipe type sound and one click a little further in. Apart from that there is nothing to detract from the wonderful audio on offer here. The mandolin section plays perfectly and this applies to the rest of the track. There is only a minimal amount of mega light static here and there but it is so much in the background as to be totally negligible. It is only what you expect to find on a vinyl of this age and is part of this medium's charm. The depth and warmth you get from vinyl cannot be bettered but then I don't need to convince anyone of that if they're reading this! The clarity and definition of each note is superb and aside from the two 'sounds' at the beginning this is a stunning version. The instrumental end section plays 'as new' and the fade out has no 'background' of any kind.
'Country Honk' plays with sublime quality from start to finish. I cannot believe I am listening to a 1A/1A mono pressing! There are two obvious clicks towards the end but there is no other interference apart from that. There is no distortion on the top level and this gives further evidence of a vinyl rarely played i.e. no groove wear.
'Live With Me' is in a word, fantastic! With only minimal light static on the intro the entire track is 'high end', audio does not get much better than this! The bass sound is so strong and the saxophone section plays with superb power. Again I am just blown away by the quality here and grades as Mint- without doubt. Not one hint of distortion anywhere and the power of this track is incredible. There is barely any static on the fade out either.
'Let It Bleed' performs with stunning clarity from the first note yet again. I listen to every second of any collectable vinyl so as to provide a comprehensive grading and I am pleased to say there is nothing here to detract from the quality of the audio. There are 3/4 very faint 'ticks' in the middle section but they are so much in the background as to be negligible. They are very quiet! I do not wish to sound repetitive but there is no distortion and for a mono record playing through a stereo system this is a massive rarity. There is just some light static on the fade out. A truly spectacular version of this classic.

'Midnight Rambler' plays so clearly from the first groove with barely any background static and the strong bass sound is stunning. There are only two clicks prior to the long instrumental section. The overall depth and definition of each note is mega impressive, it's incredible to think this was pressed back in '69. The instrumental piece then plays nigh on perfectly and I am not exaggerating when I say it sounds almost 'as new' the clarity is 'high end' for certain. The following quieter section does not disappoint either and whilst there are a couple of clicks there is no other intrusive interference. It then plays with immense power to the very end with only one click and no other 'background'. Whilst there are 4/5 clicks I am confident in grading this as Ex and to be honest the vast majority is worthy of a higher grading as so many sections do play 'as new'!
'You Got The Silver' plays very well but there are some crackle sounds here and there. It's a difficult one to grade in a way as the clarity of sound is still very impressive. It is a relatively quiet track so you expect some 'background' and it could be said it adds to the vinyl atmosphere! There is no persistent static or hiss in the background, just the odd crackle sound like I say. By the half way mark the track is playing very clearly with very little 'background' and the louder end section plays with great power, just some crackle sounds towards the end.
'Monkey Man' is fantastic! There are a small number of light clicks on the intro but as for the rest? Wow! I haven't heard a stronger or cleaner version in a long time. The vocal plays superbly with no distortion and the mid instrumental section is just mind-blowing! I cannot believe this is a mono 1A/1A press! The precision with which this track plays is just sublime and again it is patently obvious this vinyl has only been lightly played. The definition of each note could not be any clearer. Aside from the intro this is Mint- for sure and the fade out is also 100% perfect.
The classic intro on 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' has minimal light static, they are more like dust ticks really and have no affect on the superb audio. A very impressive opening in anyone's book. The acoustic section then has just one click but hardly any static and the clarity is absolutely stunning! As the vocal begins this amazing clarity does not decrease. There is just nothing that intrudes on the quality of the listen and it plays with near perfection. It continues in the same way and as the percussion 'kicks in' the playback is easily of Mint quality. It is a real rarity to hear a genuine first press play with such astounding depth and clarity. The quality does not decrease and there is no distortion on the top level whatsoever. This is without doubt the 'cleanest' version of this classic I have heard in many a year, it is totally superb! It plays to the same breathtaking standard to the very end with quite simply no 'background' of any kind. This final 'choir' section so often has some distortion but that is not the case here and I cannot stress enough just how powerfully it plays! It quite simply plays with Mint quality and to cap it all off there is no obvious 'background' on the fade out. What a truly spectacular version to end this classic album!
In summary this is a beautifully preserved vinyl and it plays very impressive clarity and depth. As I have already said it has only been lightly played judging by the total lack of distortion and the small amount of spindle wear. I could not believe what I was hearing! Yes there are a small number of clicks but as stated you will always get some interference on a vinyl of this age but that is about it. There is very little 'background' besides that. The vinyl itself is so clean and is definitely the most impressive mono version I have ever seen and, I repeat, it's a 1A/1A press with mega low stampers! With a very clean stickered cover and a Mint poster you won't get much better than this!
The Cover
This cover is in excellent condition with only minor shelf wear and was produced by the 'Upton Printing Group'. As per the 1A/1A pressings it has the 'Full Color Rolling Stones Poster Included' sticker on the front cover. The edges and thin pinched spine are in superb order with no rubbing at all, I have never seen cleaner on a 'first press' cover, and even the corners have very little wear. The opening edge is also in great condition with practically no handling wear. The laminated front cover is in lovely condition with no marking and no laminate splits or lifts and all you can see are a small number of very faint creases around the edges and a couple of not very obvious indents top left. The back cover is again very clean on the whole with only a couple of faint marks and a little ringwear. For a cover that is fast approaching 50 years of age it has been remarkably well preserved.
Red Mono sleeve & Poster
The original red Decca mono sleeve has a split on each side and a tiny one on the bottom edge but apart from that is in excellent shape with only minor creasing. And as stated it of course has the 'London Bach Choir' credit.
The original poster is in fantastic condition and is 'as new'. It looks like it has never been removed from the cover!
The labels
The unboxed red Decca labels have very little spindle wear and no marking or writing of any kind. Superb examples! The JT tax stamp can be seen on both run out grooves.
