Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. "MAGIC CARPET"

RARE ...Original 1972 BRITISH first pressing of an obscure sitar dominated psychedelic album headed by Clean Alford, the sitarist from MAGIC CARPET ...
Clem Alford, who recorded this British underground album before he joined ranks with the legendary Magic Carpet, who released the acclaimed album of Eastern-influenced music a little later in the same year as this Sagram album. In fact the group was actually called Sargam. The budget label got the name wrong! Clem Alford was an excellent sitar player as you will hear on this groovy psychedelic feast of heady sound trips....
Way back in the early seventies in London, three friends came together to play some unusual music: Sitarist Clem Alford, guitarist Jim Moyes and tabla player Keshav Sathe formed a unique Anglo/ Indian fusion, calling themselves Sargam (the name of a note in an Indian scale). Clem Alford was an excellent sitar player, who spent time in India to enhance his knowledge of Indian classical music. (The three friends recruited fem vocalist/guitarist Alisha Sufit and formed "Magic Carpet" who released an acclaimed album of Eastern-influenced music the same year). But as mentioned, a few months earlier, under the name Sargram they made this psychedelic sitar rock album, mispelt by the Windmill recording company and inappropriately entitled "Pop Explosion Sitar Style".   "Pop Explosion Sitar Style" is a beautifully played and distinctive acoustic album that reflects many musical currents of the time. The complex rhythmic, sensitive tabla playing of virtuoso Keshav Sathe underpins all six tracks while Clem Alford weaves acid induced sitar webs to the forefront... collectors of '60s/early '70s are urged to check it out ... no bad or weak tracks at all and arguably more interesting than the Magic Carpet Lp
