Description
This is a very rare 78-rpm, 12-inch Victor "picture disc" entitled "A NIGHT WITH PAUL WHITEMAN AT THE BILTMORE". It was released in December of 1932 by the RCA Victor Company of Camden, NJ, and features beautiful period graphics of band leader Paul Whiteman, his orchestra, and record playlist on side A, and ballroom dancers, latin dancers, and city scenes on side B. Side B reads, "VICTOR PRESENTS PAUL WHITEMAN AND HIS TROUPE IN A NIGHT OF ENTERTAINMENT AT THE BILTMORE". The original sleeve is missing, and the record is stored in a plain album sleeve.
The record's catalogue number is VICTOR 39000, and it is in excellent condition. There is some minor surface wear that may be seen if held at an angle to the light, but it is not apparent if seen head-on. See the close-up photos below to see for yourself, and to view the playlist. The record has no apparent cracks or chips. I have not played the record, because I only have an old Victrola that will play 78's, and I have heard that it's not good to play rare records on vintage equipment. From the looks of the record, however, it seems like it would play just fine.
This is a beautiful copy of this 75-year-old picture disc and it would make a fantastic addition to anyone's collection. The record will be packed securely in cardboard for shipment.
