Label Conditions: Both immaculate: ultra clean, fresh and attractive with hardly a spindle trace to be seen.

Cat Number: KVL 9001.

Mode / Speed: Stereo / 33.3 rpm.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record: 160 grams. A very heavy record, way above average for it’s year of issue.

Rarity: Rare: another ‘lost’ obscurity on a tiny label. Seldom seen or offered anywhere.

Brief Info: One of the most obscure albums I have yet offered on Ebay. Information is sparse to say the least and this one-off album is on an equally obscure label. Mojo Hannah play rock with country overtones and very well too. This a lovely album and no expense spared in it’s production. It has a textured E. J. Day cover and pressed on massively thick, top quality vinyl. I have never seen a record on Kingdom before and I feel sure few were made. This will not be seen often or likely much better than this and certainly one for collectors.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT: or very close to. A single unlaminated format with textured surfaces both sides. Made with very soft and flimsy card that is prone to just about every form of wear possible. Printed and made in England by the E. J. Day Group.

Cover Front: Very fragile indeed and one of those that flops and bends if handled carelessly. To find this dark front without any noteworthy rubbing or ring wear is some achievement. The main issue are a few surface creases that only really show under angled light. With textured surfaces and this dark, I am amazed no speckle has occurred (rubbing to the surface detail) and I can hardly imagine seeing this cover again with practically all ink so perfectly intact.

Cover Back: Exceptional being clean and barely worn again, less creasing, any present light and faint. With such a heavy record inside best part of 40 years, how this has avoided ring wear or rubbing I do not know.

Top Edge: Practically as made up to the right corner tip that has rubbed.

Bottom Edge: Largely as above: both are thin and retain very fine shape.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, mainly sharp with little wear, any thickening or burring quite mild, but a little seen viewed end-on which is almost the least to be expected on such soft card which is guaranteed untrimmed. Record enters on this edge.

Spine and Text: Solid (well as this could possibly be), mainly straight with some mildish compression near the top half. All text is perfect and unworn and well-centred on a narrow depth and this remains very white. Even the folds have avoided rubbing.

Corners: Light to moderate (bottom right) rubbing with a little tip creasing. All retain fine to very fine shape, all very commendable for a cover that will have next to zero tolerance of any careless handling or storage.

Cover Summary: A very strong all-round example of this incredibly fragile 70’s cover, one that will prove very difficult to find much better. The creases are relatively mild and have NOT broken the ink, so have modest visibility and given all the facts, this should please many collectors. It is highly likely it will not be seen or offered often at all.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT(++): a plain white half open style inner and lined (one window circle on solid back). Clean, fresh and devoid of creasing or edge splits.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(+): or better. A very fine visual copy that is very clean, shiny, intense black and heavily pressed on very thick vinyl. A copy hardly played on all the evidence with any surface marks from usage minimal and faint. Under light, minor surface marks are seen within the pressing that would have been present when purchased new, these superificial with little to no audio effect. In fact, this plays very well indeed. Visually a super record that should please many, if not most collectors again.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This obscure and rarely offered record plays even above it’s high visual grading with very little to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sounds are minimal indeed and no pops or significant clicks were noted and this is an exceptional clean pressing. There are no penetrating scratches on this disc and few copies will outperform this significantly I feel sure. I have never seen or heard this album before and I would be very confident few were even made (and fewer still sold). Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this impressive record that certainly is worth checking out. This copy will prove very difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended. In terms of rarity, one for the specialist collector too.

SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
