Bon Jovi needs no introduction. The band has sold more than 120 million albums and has some of the largest arena-rock hits of all time (“You Give Love A Bad Name”, “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “Living On a Prayer”). That being said, this New Jersey-based band has had a long career that has touched on many different styles. From adult contemporary to country, Bon Jovi has branched out without abandoning their native roots.

Jon Bon Jovi got his start as a janitor working in his cousin’s recording studio. After hours he would sneak in some recording time, often utilizing some of New Jersey’s best musicians (members of the E Street Band and Aldo Nova). One of those demos, “Runaway,” became a hit on the local radio stations. The song ended up starting a major-label bidding war to sign the band.

The band released two albums, but it was the third that brought the band worldwide fame. Slippery When Wet was a major success, propelled by the band’s most famous songs “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “Living On a Prayer.”
