Description
This is an original 1st UK pressing of the classic Led Zeppelin album, Led Zeppelin IV (also known as the four symbols)
On Atlantic Plum/Red label reference 2401012
Matrices are A3/B3 with "pecko duck" etched in the runoff on side 1 and "porky" on side 2
Note - while A3/B3 are the earliest matrices indicating 1st press this is not the earliest version of the label.
Atlantic weren't happy with the band name being at the bottom so made them change it. The credit to Peter Grant was also removed at that point.
I think this is the first incarnation of the amended label given that the feather symbol on side 2 is INCORRECTLY INVERTED. This was a short lived mistake and was corrected quickly so there aren't very many of these out there.
The Record :
This is an EX++
Both labels are clean and free from any writing or tears with just a small amount of spindle wear when turned to the light Lovely example - I can only pick up a couple of very light surface marks on side 2 - Side 1 I can't see any Both sides are nice and bright vinyl
TEST PLAYING :
Side 1 : No Sticks or Jumps, No Pops, you will hear very, very light static between songs. Clearly seen very little turntable time. Conservatively EX++ - Audio is gorgeous
Side 2 : As per side 1 - if anything even better than side 1
You'll do well to find a better audio
Inner sleeve VG - These are famously fragile and the reason for this grade is there's a 2" split at the bottom.
Otherwise its in really good shape, nicely squared, the side flips are intact and just a few hairlines and a little ageing in the colour.
The record isn't kept in this - the original owner sensibly wanted to preserve it so the record has been housed in a plain white sleeve (included)
Outer Sleeve VG+ mainly due to wear to the edges, there are a few short hairlines but its clean, again this was fragile material and the original matt finish (later Atlantic started making them glossier)
Overall this is a VERY nice copy of a much sought after album which is one of the most important and essential in rock history
NOTE : PLEASE ask before bidding from overseas as there are some countries I don't and won't post to.
I'll be using Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded If you're local and want to pick up in person then that's also fine.
All records graded as per the Record Collector / Goldmine Guide as closely and conservatively as I can
Record will be sent in a stiff mailer with the record removed from the outer sleeve and all in a plastic sleeve to prevent splits in transit - I am a collector myself so hate when that happens.
Also : This is part of a very high quality record collection that I'm in the process of selling at the moment - there will be many more of this type of LP to come :) If this is your type of thing you might want to keep an eye out
