This is the far rarer label variant with the feather pointing downwards on one side. The album is in wonderful collectable condition and an upgrade for most. A wonderful copy that does not come up for auction in such splendid allover condition very often.

First press matrices A//3 B//4 with the earliest stampers and "PORKY" and "PECKO DUCK" etched into the deadwax. This is the genuine FIRST PRESS with the correct A//3 B//3 matrices. The vinyl is heavy at 147 gr.

"Four Symbols" spent an amazing 57 weeks in the UK charts. The green & orange label pressing's would far outsell the red and maroon colour early pressing's. The Plum label variants were only available for 12 of the 57 weeks, during which time Atlantic prepared to launch their new labels and the new catalogue numbers.

Label changes usually took place incrementally, with a necessary cross over period needed to bridge the change of the records and covers already in record shops, taking into account the most recent releases that were still selling.

The classic Plum label design was changed by Atlantic to a green & orange colour in March, 1972, when the second pressings of "4 Symbols" were made, with a new catalogue number, 'K 5008,' replacing the first issue's 'De Luxe 2401 012.'

 The heavy vinyl with high groovewalls provides a fantastic audio experience with channelling not equalled by the later CD version. I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing Rotel amp and B&W three way speakers!!! A beautiful CLASSIC with supreme songcraft, a joy to listen to!!!!

Vinyl: EX.  I'm very happy to be able to present this gem in this great condition. Only lightly played . The audio is simply sublime played on my Technics deck with Linn Sondek cartridge and through my rotel amp and B&W speakers.  This really heavy vinyl sounds out of this world, a majestic album that went largely unnoticed at the time.  There are no marks and just a small hairline on track 1 side two. There are some paper retraction traces only visible under a strong light but otherwise this vinyl is a beautiful EX. Great replay on my premium sound system without any skips or jumps.The labels still retain their beautiful original appearance.

Gatefold Sleeve: EX.  INCREDIBLE! A fantastic looked after matt gatefold. The sleeve is still beautifully coloured on the outside AND the inside! It sits completely flat and this album has a nice sturdy structure with absolutely stunning artwork. Lovely colours and not any creases or stickers. Moderate wear on the top and bottom edges. The spine retains its full lustre, the opening is still crisp. The inside gatefold is mint. No splits or damage and no sticker tears. Beautiful extremely rare classic Zep album.

INNER: EX

This also has the original inner sleeve which is made of a vulnerable paper much like the good old blotting paper. Most of these have gone missing. This is still present and is in great condition. Just small side seam splits of a few cm's. It has the lyric to "Stairway" printed. A lovely item and quite rare in its own right with many replaced by later re-issue copies which have normal smooth paper and are far lighter in colour. This insert will be an upgrade for most and I have rarely seen one in such great condition. I will send the vinyl in a separate plain inner so as not to aggravate the side split in transport.
