Description
Up for sale is my bona fide original copy of the International Submarine Band picture sleeve 45 record “The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming”, Ascot AS 2218. I remember back in the days of my youth when local record stores would have a table with cut outs and promo copies of records for sale. I bought this promotional copy from just such a store. This copy has the “Russians are Coming” song on both sides, recorded by Gram Parsons and his early band.
The record wasn't played much and is in really nice shape with super gloss and only a few ultra fine hairlines visible when viewed under a strong light. I would grade it V++/NM. The labels are really nice, but there is are three letters lightly written in pencil on one label under the ASCAP info blurb. Perhaps a DJ marking, it came that way.
The picture sleeve is in very good shape. There is an approx. ½ inch split at the center of the bottom edge. The upper, open edges are a little rippled. There is a ring impression on each side. One side of the sleeve has a very clean and clear image, the other side has a bit of wear and a small “x” written on it. Again, it came with this “x” on it, perhaps an industry marking. Please see the photos for details of the condition, this an important extension of the written description.
From a no smoking environment. I will package this very securely for shipping. The record will be removed from the picture sleeve and placed in a separate sleeve, to prevent splitting in the mail.
