Extremely rare, privately released, pressed in the hundreds.....Gerald Locas' magnificent sole long play is one of the most elusive Jazz recordings and vinyl collectibles out of Canada.
Pianist Gerald Locas was from the small town of St-Hyacinthe in Quebec's eastern townships, where his musical tutoridge started. He once studied music under Oscar Peterson and pursued music at Toronto's Advanced School of Contemporary Music, The Quebec Conservatory of Music and at the Berkelee School of Boston.
He's joined here (forming a quartet showcasing a solid French and North American jazz vibe) with fellow musicians (also from St-Hyacinthe) Guy Dion (bass), Paul Miron (guitar) and Gilbert Brouillette (drums) running through 9 of his own compostions (all instrumentals). All top-notch jazz compositions, they span from the soft jazz-waltz of "Francine", the excellent light bossa-jazz "Amour de Printemps", to arguably the album's highlight, the oustanding up-tempo Latin-Jazz diamond "Jazz à la Creme".
