Description

ARTIST AND TITLE: Actual Recording of the Gas Shell Bombardment by the Royal Garrison Artillery Preparatory to the British Troops Entering Lille, 9th October 1918. Reverse is 4-track puzzle record 'The Conundrum'.

ISSUE: HMV D378

CONDITION: EE+

COMMENTS: The only authentic recorded sound of the First World War - all archive film has dubbed on sound. HMV sent their recording director Will Gaisberg to France in 1918 to capture the sound of the guns for posterity, and the record ends with a plea to buy War Bonds.
