Description
EMMYLOU HARRIS : GLIDING BIRD
Note: The artist is shown on this package as "Emmy Lou" Harris
The artist's debut LP ; a first issue from 1968; the original release on Jubilee (JGS-8031)
VINYL : NEAR MINT (NM) : Like-new ; Heavy, black & shiny with little or no sign of wear or play; Perfect labels suggest that this LP was very seldom spun. The record is simply stunning. The words "Bell Sound" are factory-stamped in the dead wax. Matrix numbers end in "A-1" and "B-1".
Record Labels: Very sharp on Jubilee ; No spindle marks, stamps, writing etc.
Print at the bottom of the labels says "A Product of Jay-Gee Record Co. Inc. N.Y."
White label promo copies of this title may be counterfeits. This stock copy is the real thing.
COVER : NEAR MINT (NM) : Textured, thick stock; spine is intact & legible; top seam is intact & sharp; bottom seam is also intact but has the beginnings of a tiny split near the center; very little ring wear on front or back; very vivid colors; opening edge is nice & sharp; slight corner wear. This seldom-seen cover has been very well preserved. There is a tiny white spot on the front cover near the middle of the spine. There are a few very slight creases near the spine. Otherwise this cover is near-perfect.

The Bear says:
" Here is a lovely first issue of GLIDING BIRD, the obscure debut LP by EMMYLOU HARRIS. This title was originally issued on the JUBILEE label & languished out of print for many years. The music is closer to Folk than Country & Western. The LP features covers of songs by Bob Dylan, Fred Neil & Hank Williams plus several songs credited to Emmy Lou Harris. The record is in fantastic shape & so is the cover. This scarce item is seldom seen in such beautiful condition. The album would make a very nice gift for any true EMMYLOU fan, as it pre-dates her "Gram Parsons" period by several years. Don't snooze on this one. Glide on !! "
A SIMPLE VINYL GRADING SYSTEM :
Mint : Still Sealed/Unplayed/Unopened
Mint minus (M-): New and Possibly Unplayed; a rarely seen grade
Near Mint (NM): Like-new, with little or no visible wear; very seldom spun.
Near Mint minus (NM-): almost like-new, perhaps very slight signs of age/play or wear that are strictly cosmetic.
Excellent (EX)/Very Good double-plus (VG++): Way above average, very nice, no major flaws; played but not abused.
Very Good plus (VG+): An above average used album; a few visible surface marks/paper scuffs; slight surface noise.
Very Good (VG): An average used LP, far from perfect; w/ a few light scratches. Some noise; plays through; no skips.
Very Good minus (VG-): Reveals a lot of wear when viewed or spun but is not actually defective or warped. Possibly worth keeping until a better copy appears.
LP Cover grading is a much less exact, more subjective science. Generally, the truly collectible grades range from Mint to Excellent or VG++ depending on general wear. Main cover flaws such as split seams or spine, ring wear, cut or bent corners, hole punches, writing, water damage etc. should always be included in a proper auction listing. These factors will combine to determine the grade. Of course, as my old boss & mentor Jess used to tell 'em : "You can't play the cover". Please e-mail for even more details about any LP cover, insert, poster or inner sleeve listed by your friends at Bear's Wax 2 aka CyBear's Wax.

Records are removed from jackets for shipping & are securely packed in polysleeves & sent inside thick cardboard album mailers with stiff cardbooard and bubble wrap. I am not responsible for lost or damaged domestic or overseas shipments, unless the buyer has previously insured them. Records are professionally sight-graded, not always play-graded. "Mint condition". Proper record grading involves skill, knowledge & honesty (not wishful thinking.)
