Description
Prestige Folklore 14012, “Dave Van Ronk: Folksinger” with DVR on guitar and vocals; recorded in 1962, released here in 1964. Banjo-label vinyl plays at VG+ with light static evident mainly on outer tracks. Laminated jacket has solid seams all around, with slight wear on bottom right corner. Jacket back is somewhat soiled and age-toned with a Sam Goody stamp. Songs are “He Was a Friend of Mine”, “Motherless Children”, “Stackalee”, “Mr. Noah”, “Come Back Baby”, “Poor Lazarus”, “Samson & Delilah”, “Cocaine Blues”, “You’ve Been a Good Old Wagon”, “Fixin’ to Die”, “Hang Me”, “Long John”, and “Chicken Is Nice”. Prestige Folklore was one of the great imprints from the heady days of the folk revival; this is one of a sequenced set of Prestige folk LPs listed this week, many of which feature the incomparable Fritz Richmond on homemade bass. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $18.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $11.75 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
