Description

7" single: DAVIE JONES with THE KING BEES "Liza Jane" b/w "Louie, Louie Go Home" (Vocalion Pop V.9221) 1964 UK DEMO pressing **DEFINITE ORIGINAL**

Not too much introduction is needed here. The word "rare" gets thrown about a lot on Ebay, but here's a record which definitely deserves the adjective... David Bowie's first ever vinyl recording at the age of 17, and certainly his most sought after record. And to cap it all off this is a guaranteed original DEMO COPY. Counterfeit copies do NOT have a centre, which this copy obviously does. Matrix numbers are CPDRF-33317-T1-1C and CPDRF-33318-T1-1C. Label states "DEMONSTRATION SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE" just above "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964". Serious bidders only, please...

CONDITION : VG+/EX (Visual/Play Grade)

DESCRIPTION : For a record of this calibre a full description is needed, both visual and aural. Please bear in mind I grade strictly and err on the side of caution. You can check my 100% Ebay feedback for proof. The record has some light surface scuffs on both sides, but none which you can feel and certainly none which sound. The record still retains most of its sheen. The labels are absolutely PRISTINE with absolutely NO writing or marks. The centre is perfect and fully intact. Comes in original Vocalion company sleeve in excellent condition. To sum up, I'd grade the record visually as VG+

Listening to the record, the run-in grooves have some light surface noise, but this disappears IMMEDIATELY when the music starts. Both sides are cut incredibly LOUD and the record plays a really strong EXCELLENT, with no crackle, no distortion, no skips, no jumps and no clicks to distract from the great music contained within the grooves.

To sum up - a really strong listening copy with a few light surface marks and pristine labels with nice original Vocalion company sleeve.

KEYWORDS : Vertigo swirl, Harvest, Dawn, Deram Nova, Neon, psychedelic, progressive, freakbeat, mod, beat

PAYMENT : IMPORTANT - Buyer pays in UK pounds, cheque (in the UK), cash in registered envelope, IMO, Money Transfer or Paypal (plus 4% handling fee). I'm sorry but if using Paypal, the buyer MUST pay the 4% handling fee...

POSTAGE : 7”s/CDs : £1.50 (UK), £2.50 (Europe) and £3.50 (Rest of World). IMPORTANT - Buyer MUST pay extra for insured postage - I'm sure with a record of this calibre, the buyer would want insurance anyway. Item will be packed extremely well, bubble-wrapped, packed in a 7" mailer and then this will be packed into a 12" record box for added safety.

NOTES : I am first and foremeost a collector, and grade strictly as I wish everyone would. Records will be well-packed between cardboard, and sent in record mailers. Albums will be removed from outer sleeve to avoid seam splits in transit.

Good luck and check my other auctions for a selection of soul, funk, jazz, punk, indie, progressive, hip-hop, beats, breaks, samples and other odd-ball gear...
