DAVID BOWIE “THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD” - DRESS COVER - MERCURY 6338041- MATRIX “ 1Y//1∇420” - “2Y//1∇420”
This is the first issue with the misspelt "Tonny Visconti" on the labels. Mercury corrected this and later UK Mercury copies state "Tony Visconti".
Anthony Edward Visconti (born April 24, 1944) is an American record producer, musician and singer. Since the late 1960s, he has worked with an array of performers. His first hit single was T. Rex's "Ride a White Swan" in 1970, the first of many hits in collaboration with Marc Bolan. Visconti's lengthiest involvement was with David Bowie:
Recorded at Trident and Advision Studios in London during April and May 1970. It features the first appearances on a Bowie record of guitarist Mick Ronson and drummer Mick Woodmansey, who would later become famous as members of the Spiders from Mars.
This is a very rare album which is reflected in the asking price. I’m not a dealer but I have had this appraised by a long term collector.
Cover and sleeve have been rated as mint.
Vinyl has been rated as VG due to some background surface noise.
This is not for the “Mint” only collector but it will sit proudly amongst any serious Vinyl collector.
