As a rule, when inspecting and subsequently describing a copy of some album you’re focused on the basic things. During this moment, you aren’t that much interested in price stickers or price tags which might be on the cover. It was also the case when inspecting this factory sealed copy of Bob Dylan’s 6th studio album “Highway 61 Revisited”. It was only when we were working on the description and were going to indicate the release date of the album that we paid attention to the date stamped on the retail price tag which still remains affixed to the shrink wrap in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover. If you match the album’s release date which occurred on August 30, 1965 and the “8/65” date indicated on the price tag, you come to a conclusion that considering that the number of dates in August is 31, the stamp could appear on the tag either on Monday, August 30th, or Tuesday, August 31st, 1965. Wow! We’ve never seen anything like this and if this is the case and our logical thinking is correct then, without any doubts it’s guaranteed that this very early example is the first one among all of the copies of this album we’ve ever come across with that can be identified as the 1st day pressing. In any other case, considering the hype sticker located on the front cover and the uncorrected misprint “Meaningful” in the back cover liners, we’d simply state that this copy is a 1st Stereo pressing if it wasn’t due to the “8/65” date indicated on the price tag. Who would argue that there is an enormous difference between the 1st Day pressing and the 1st pressing. Let’s go back to the “Featuring LIKE A ROLLING STONE” rectangular hype sticker. Its size is standard to this issue and measures 3 5/16” x 1.5”. When composing this worldwide hit Dylan was struggling to find its essence and a breakthrough was made only when it was tried in a rock music format. Perhaps, this circumstance had an effect on the whole album as “Highway 61 Revisited” is Dylan’s first full rock album. As I mentioned previously, the back cover with the notes written by Bob Dylan himself has a misprint “meaningful”, the word that somehow changes the meaning of the paragraph and that was quickly changed to the correct one: “meaningless”.  The cover printed by Modern Album Finishing Co., probably at Terre Haute, IN, contains the “7” number in the lower right-hand corner. It’s guaranteed that the vinyl of this copy you’ll find inside contains the red Columbia Records 2-eye “360 Sound” Stereo labels with the catalog number CS-9189 located above the “Nonbreakable” banner. This copy, just like the factory sealed copy of “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan” currently listed at our auction, comes from one owner.

The album is in beautiful Mint- condition, only having some very light barely noticeable age discoloration at the mouth and a slight bumping to the top left corner. The shrink wrap doesn't have any splits, tears or missing pieces, only just some very light age shelf wear, and contains original breathe holes. The very rare issue of KRLA Beat newspaper is in great vintage condition with all of the pages being completely intact.
