A SUPERB COPY
U.S. "party" label produced for Novelty Records Distributors, founded in early 1937 and ceasing to operate around January 1938.
This label evolved from Hot Shots From Hollywood, a jukebox label that was introduced in 1936 by John Collins "Jack" McClelland (1900-1973).
Hollywood Hot Shots releases coupled Hot Shots From Hollywood masters with standard pop fare or mildly suggestive songs by Cliff Edwards. Masters were recorded at the Associated Cinema Studios in Hollywood.
The Rae Bourbon releases were redubs from earlier Bourbana releases (with WR-prefix because they were made by the Western Record Co.).
In January 1938, U.S. Post Office inspectors arrested owner McClelland in Honolulu, charging him with two counts of sending obscene phonograph records through the mails and via express, claiming that Novelty Records Distributors was responsible for the bulk of obscene records distributed throughout the United States.
