THE BEATLES - 'STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER'/'PENNY LANE'
This superb 1st UK pressing of their ground-breaking double 'A' sided 45 dates from initial February 1967 release.
On the black & silver Parlophone label (R 5570) with upper case 'Gramophone Co...' rim texts on both labels.
A 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the 'Penny Lane' label and in both run-outs.
Matrices: 7XCE 18415-1 & 7XCE 18416-2
Stamper codes: 1/TH & 4/AT
The disc is housed within its original full colour, thin paper picture sleeve which were supplied with the first 250,000 copies only.
This particular cover has the rarer green Parlophone logo on the rear panel.
Two variations of this cover exist:- the very earliest covers had a green Parlophone logo on the rear panel, whilst all others had a black one. Our research has concluded that covers with black logo outnumber those with green logo by at least 10 to 1.
CONDITION
Disc: EXCELLENT +
Factory-fresh deep-gloss playing surfaces showing nothing more than a few harmless wispy paper hairlines beneath halogen light and a handful of spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Exceptional sound quality on both sides of this disc showcasing the Beatles at the height of their creative powers.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
Clean, flat & white where it should be with a few soft wrinkles from storage, but no writing, tears or seam splits.
