Are You Now or Have You Ever Been?(His Gotham Ingress)
source: CBS Live Recording Side one:
Last thoughts on Woody Guthrie *
Lay down your weary tune
Dusty old Fair grounds *
Ballad of Hollis Brown *
Side two:
When the ship comes in
Who killed Davy Moore?
Percy's song
New Orleans rag *
Seven curses The title of this LP is, of course, in reference to the McCarthy era question "Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?" Fitting, as Bob is in his early "protest the corruption of established authority" incarnation. No song said it better than John Birch, but on this recording, Percy's Song and Seven Curses tell the story. The sub-title refers to his ingress (or coming into) Gotham (a Batman inspired reference to New York City). Gotham, in actuality, is in Jersey. Information:
In 1983 this LP was re-released in Germany on the Bebop Label with a slick black, white, and blue jacket and full printed red labels.

Matrix: 66 23060-01 The same LP was also released by the same German Label in a blank jacket with a bright red-orange fake TAKRL insert.

An incredible sounding 1974 TAKRL release.
It has a plain white jacket with a pink or yellow paper insert with a picture of lower Manhattan circa 1966.  'World' or plain yellow labels with 'SIDE ONE' and  'SIDE TWO' stamped on label.

The source is the famous un-released CBS album of the concert at Carnegie Hall, Oct 26 1963 and *NY Town Hall - April 12, 1963. The shows were recorded to be released as a live Columbia album, but disputes arose
(including CBS hesitating on the release of the well over 6 minute rambling soliloquy "Last Thoughts"). This seems to be the thorn in the side that doomed the project.

Also released in a hand made cover (the rumoured Berkeley LP)  entitled: Live at Carnegie Hall 1963

Title: Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been(His Gotham Ingress)

Record Label/Company: TAKRL

Catalogue Number: Matrix numbers are: TAKRL 1952-A and 1952-B.

Description Of Item For Sale: This Album as detailed above was recorded by CBS for intended release, and as with so much of this Bob Dylan stuff, they stupidly did not, their loss, to my mind they only just started to jump on the band wagon properly at earliest with the Biograph box-set, and really only in 1991 with the Bootleg series vol. 1,2,3, this record shows to me, they just never really had the plot.Like the hats off to Woody Guthrie or not, this is a great archive. This has the quirky WORLD RECORDS labels, song listings do not relate to the actual songs on the album, surely not an attempt to keep them secret?

Vinyl: Excellent+, lovely and clean, a few light surface marks, plays really nicely.

Sleeve: Excellent, the insert is pasted on the front.

Extra Items: NONE.

COMBINED POSTAGE. I always try and reduce postage costs for multiple items, if you intend to buy more than one LP from me, please DO NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING until you have finished bidding on all items. I have limited time at night, I aim to get things shipped next morning, it makes hard work when I have to start issueing refunds for postage, seeking email addresses to use Paypal, repacking, weighing, wasting tape, and spoiling mailers. I can't send more than 2 kilos in one go outside of U.K. as a guide, 4 LP's is around the limit to combine.Let me know when you finish buying more than one record and want them packed, I will pack, weigh, then invoice you.

CONDITION:

All Items are Graded As In The Record Collector 2006 Price Guide,in Brief these grades are as follows:

Mint-Unplayed,sealed or as good as an unplayed undamaged item,.

Excellent-Some signs the record has been played, very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging may have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good-Been Played many times,no major deterioration in sound, despite noticeable surface marks, occational light scratch.Normal wear & tear on the cover or extra items, without major defect is acceptable.

Good-Played so much,used so much,sounds bad,many problems such as splits,stains etc.

Fair-Just Playable-not nice.

TRACKS ARE: Probably available on Google. Also if I have made scans of labels or sleeve, click to supersize, and read them that way.

POSTAGE & PACKING:

I don't use Postage to make money.I try and weigh the parcels before I list the items and add packing cost to the postage cost.Sometimes I can't weigh 1st(Usually if I have to make a home-made parcel for odd sized items)and if I do that,I will make my best educated guess of the postage cost, but I don't often pack home made parcels before the bidding ends, because many people want to ask questions,so sometimes,I could be a little out.I do pack in secure parcels.

 Ways To Pay:

Cheque,Postal Order,Cash On Collection.Postage cost will not be needed for collection, package will be charged for only if you need it,which you should not need if you collect yourself.Paypal is available as I have to offer it,although I personally would rather avoid it,I have to allow it.I despatch very quickly so don't worry, you'll soon get your goods if you are quick to pay.

Europe & Worldwide:

PAYPAL.Sorry I am not allowed to offer International Money orders any more,I like them, but Ebay don't.

FEEDBACK:

Although you are not obliged to leave feedback,I hope you do.If you get a record and are happy, please leave feedback so I know it has arrived, and that you are happy, then I can leave yours and erase the sale from my Email and Ebay page.If you are not happy, please ask for a refund. Many buyers don't leave feedback and it annoys me,so,If after a long time I get no feedback,I will leave your positive feedback assuming that you payed, then I will add you to my blocked bidder list.Harsh maybe, but Feedback is how Ebay works,I see no need to be so lazy,it is only good manners.

U.K: I prefere a Cheque or Postal order,or Cash on collection.Paypal is available, but I don't like it,although I have to offer it,and I won't hold it against you if you do use it. Rest Of World: Paypal. If you have any other suggestions,I am open hearing them BEFORE you bid.
