Original UK 1968 High Note BSLP 5001 vinyl LP Roland Alphonso with The Originals Orchestra - 'ABC Rocksteady'.
Great looking sleeve graphics with the 'palm beach' girl. The lamination for the sleeve front extends back around to the three flipbacks thus protecting the spine also. The sleeve has no rips, tears, seam splits, writing or price sticker problems. But blemishes include some minor lamination shrinkage creases due to the passage of time and a few corner creases. The corners show rub wear as do the flipbacks and mouth of the cover. And the plain back has some grubbiness and ringwear
So it's a strong solid sleeve with some minor issues so I reckon it's worth 6.75 /10 by way of physical and visual condition.On to the flat and shiny vinyl which reads 158g on my scale so is of a nice medium weight.
Lovely clean labels as shown with evidence at the spindle hole of a number of spins of the disc.
Matrix numbers etc. on the dead wax run-offs are HSLP+5001+A / HSLP+5001+B.
Under a bright light source I see multiple light scuffs, lines and marks on the vinyl but no deep scratches so visually I'm giving it 4 /10.
Yet the play quality belies its' appearance... I'm testing it now on my Linn / Naim hi-fi system and yes there are tics and pops and some tracks have 'noisy' bits but it's eminently listenable in my opinion. I'm giving it 7/10 for aural quality.
In minty condition this would be one pricey album but it's a 99p start so the market can decide its' worth and the auction will run to the end. Return of course if unhappy with my appraisal of the album.
