BEATLES UK - Sgt Pepper, Stereo LP, with NO ‘Sold in UK’ etc text.

PCS 7027 – black and yellow Stereo Parlophone labels.

A UK pressing in original condition featuring:

1. for legal reasons in 1969 EMI removed the line of text ‘Sold in UK’ etc, from the labels, these labels are now hard to find,

2. the top two original flipbacks seen when the sleeve is opened are unusual as on this particular sleeve the ends of the flipbacks at the outer edges, where they meet the sleeves opening edge, see photo, have virtually NO angle of cut !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in near excellent condition and has remained clean, there is a little ‘flaky’ laminate but all the text is clear to read on the spine. When the gatefold sleeve is opened the original exposed top two flipbacks can be seen. There are NO stains, tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE CARD INSERT: the original dark green cardboard cut-out insert is present and is in excellent condition. There are NO stains, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original period EMI advertising red and white sleeve. There are NO tears, stains, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on it.

THE VINYL: side one is in excellent+ condition, side two is in excellent++ condition. It is made from the period ‘thick’, heavy vinyl, it has remained very dark and glossy, it is clear it has received very little play.

The matrix are:  YEX 637 - 1  and  YEX 638 - 1,

The mother / stampers are:   ‘2   G O H’ and  ‘4  G O T’.

THE AUDIO: is near excellent, it plays with some crackle at the start. The last track on side two, ‘A day in the life’ plays with a nice quiet exit. Overall, I think the audio would improve with a professional clean as the condition of the playing surfaces are so good. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in excellent++ condition and appear to have received very little play. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
