This Butcher Cover is a first time offering of a nicely peeled genuine 1966 LA #6 jacket at a most reasonable price that you will find for a peel that presents this well with seams that are still mostly intact. Compare this to others that have sold in past recent auctions and you will see the difference in quality. Too many Butcher Covers/trunk slicks are getting ruined and scarred on a daily basis by amateur steam peeling. It's been a while since we have had a better all around example of this harder to source variation. The reason that you don't see more of these is because they are much harder to peel and when they are done right, they often look better than the Scranton peels. This is the perfect example to frame in a UV safe/acid free archival frame. 
Finding a peeled West Coast Butcher Cover that doesn't look like it's ready for the trash can is not an easy task. See last photo to see this jacket prior to being peeled. If you always wanted a real Butcher Cover that presents but didn't want to spend up to 2k or more, then this might be for you ! Most LA designated 2nd state trunk covers were adhered by the Modern Album Company during the paste over process with a very difficult to remove adhesive. This is why you see so many of these for sale on the web that are severely damaged. For every nice one that exists, there are probably a thousand bad to mediocre peels. Most of the severely damaged 3rd state covers you see on the internet for sale are the improperly peeled LA Jackets. While this jacket has some general light wear issues, the seams are decent and this won't cost you over 2k and if one were to get this professionally framed, it would look just about as nice as some of the very best peels out there. Look around and compare. This blows away what is usually offered in a 2nd state Los Angeles cover. Perhaps not for the super picky collector, but that special someone who wants a real Butcher Cover for a reachable price that still presents well and better than some peels with a higher asking price.
While the market is currently getting flooded with overhyped peels with large obvious scars/damage, the good news for buyers is that this is one of the more affordable/obtainable peels out there for under $1400 that still present nicely that won't make you skip your mortgage  Such is the case here and this jacket offers quite a decent bang for the buck ! These Los Angeles covers with the notorious factory super glue have been destroyed by the thousands and continue to be destroyed through amateur peeling attempts. Due to the difficulty of the peel, these LA Butcher Covers are much harder to come by in displayable condition. This one is better than what is usually seen out there in this price range. But don't just take our word for it, look around and compare what you are buying for what price. Take a close look at the photos and please see below for specific condition description.

Condition: 
Front of Jacket:

Front cover is nicely presented due to a decent peeling job which is rare to find on these particular jackets. The good news is that this colorful and respectable #6 Butcher Cover won't cost you $2000 or more. As you can see from the photos, nothing from the peeling process (glue residue, minute abrasions, etc) detracts greatly from the awesome presentation of this jacket. This is unusual from what is generally offered on these specific jackets.Take a look and judge for yourself. (See photos of the front and edges)

Seams: 
Top seam is intact without splitting (see top seam photo). The bottom seam appears the same (intact) with a just a hint of  light seam wear on the last quarter inch at the very end of the bottom seam near the mouth opening. (See bottom seam photo). To protect the seams, it is highly recommended that the record should not be placed or stored into this jacket. 
 Spine: 
Spine paper/printing is mostly intact although there is some rub wear especially on the bottom catalog number. (See Spine photo).
Back Of Jacket:  
The back of the jacket shows general light wear/foxing/soiling with the most prominent stain being just above the EMI logo on back. Not too terrible though. (see photo of back of jacket). 
Trunk Slick: 
Removed Trunk Slick is NOT INCLUDED in this auction.
Record/Inner Sleeve Comes complete with West Coast mono pressing in Fair visual condition (lots of light scuffs and scratches) with VG+/EX labels (no writing, etc). Unfortunately, more than often than not, with the records that come in with these, the record is not in great condition as it was well loved back in the day. Just played this and it plays better than it looks although there is a feel-able scratch on "Drive My Car" that produces a light tick through that song. The rest is not too terrible with no skips and some background noise. 1966 Goldenrod Inner sleeve included with some splits and a little chipping/splitting on top .

Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
