Beatles Investment Grade "Window Shade" Butcher Cover Package
***** Great seller, great item - it pays to trust the expert *****
Up for auction is an elusive "Window Shade" Butcher Cover package that comes complete with the vinyl record, inner sleeve, COA and more. For those who want the "best of both worlds" (peeled and unpeeled), here it is ! What a great holiday gift for that special Beatles Fan !
This beautiful jacket was over 98% professionally peeled to keep just the top of the Trunk Slick adhered to the top border so that it would have the initial appearance of an unpeeled jacket but the owner could also then simply gently lift the trunk cover to see the beautiful Butcher Cover that has been hiding underneath for nearly 60 years ! These rarely show up because many Butcher Covers are improperly peeled in a foolish attempt to try and preserve the trunk slick when in fact, the trunk slick cannot be preserved without looking like crap and causing subsequent damage to the Butcher Slick. This piece is very unusual and the overall condition of this jacket and the trunk and Butcher slicks is very nice. Please read the entire detailed description of this gorgeous peel below.
Take a look around and look closely and compare the quality of the peels being offered. The quality of this piece exceeds those peels as this was performed at a higher level of skill. Please check our feedback for prior Butcher Cover sales as we've sold many high quality 3rd states over the last 20 years. A stereo Peel performed by TheButcherCover sold a few months ago for over $3100. These certified high grade Butcher Covers command top dollar on the secondary market.
This is an investment grade example due to the quality of the peel , overall condition of the jacket and the overall quality of the package as a whole. 3rd States (Peeled) of this quality are getting harder to source and have been commanding top dollar due to the rarity of the condition. Comes with a COA from TheButcherCover as well as some free added fun extras telling about the Butcher Cover (see photos) .
The peel is equally as nice and this presents as well as nearly any jacket we have offered in the past. Most of the peels offered on the internet have noticeable damage to the Butcher slick, but not the case here. This is a gorgeous peel. Borders are nice with light aging and seams and spine are intact with minimal wear/checking or toning.
Overall, this is a solid jacket with the lightest of wear aging/toning to the back . The top seam on this is complete with no issue (see the close up photo of the seam) Bottom seam is also mostly complete with a slight 1" crack near the end that doesn't extend to the end (See the Bottom seam photo) . The spine printing is all present and the spine is mostly complete with a small chip of paper missing at the very top of the spine and a smaller tiny chip at the bottom. Additionally there seems to be some very mild checking in a few spots but nothing very bad (see the spine photo). Although the spine and seams are good, we don't recommend sliding or storing the record in and out of this jacket that is now nearly 60 years old. The seam paper is very thin and can be frail due to age. The back of the jacket is fairly clean with light tanning and a few very small age stains (see photo of back). There appears to be a spot where a sticker may have been removed from the bottom left hand corner of the back.
Comes with an original crisp goldenrod 1966 inner sleeve in nice condition and a mono Scranton pressing in VG+ visual condition condition light sleeve scratches but noting that appears to be deep or too terrible. Plays through without skipping with minimal background noise. Still an enjoyable play.. The trunk slick is in very nice condition with just some light toning and a few light age spots near the bottom left hand corner.
It should be emphasized that Butcher Covers of this quality and grade are highly desired by collectors and are genuinely scarce in this condition.
Payment is due within 24 hours of auction close.

This item is an original 1966 3rd State (Peeled) used example of the legendary Butcher Cover. This item is guaranteed to be authentic. Purchaser understands that this is a used item and therefore we request that that all photos be clearly examined prior to bidding. Given the fact that this item has been professionally peeled and altered from a 2nd state (unpeeled) condition to a 3rd state (peeled) example, this item has condition elements that reflect the process of treatment of the item when it was glued at the Capitol factory in 1966 as well as conditional elements from the actual peeling process. These elements generally involve mild glue lines that were made at the pressing plant when the trunk cover was pasted over but also include some minor issues from the removal and restoration process. This is not a new item but a used one that has been restored through a tedious and careful process. Item sold in "as is" condition as seen in the photos.
