This listing is for a TEST PRESS of the 12" record "I Luv I Jah" by Bad Brains. I found this record in a large collection and didn't know what it was - it's an unlabeled record in a generic white sleeve - so I threw it on the turntable and checked it out. I recognized the songs from the first Bad Brains LP but didn't recognize the order, or the fact that there was only 4. So, after the record finished playing (no skips or anything!) I checked out the dead wax and saw the catalog number VIRUS 13 - this was a special 12" release put out in 1982 by Alternative Tentacles short-lived UK imprint, and was also the first time any of these songs had appeared on vinyl (the first Bad Brains record was originally a cassette only release with no vinyl issued until 1990).
This is an incredible rarity and an amazing piece of punk history. I don't know how many of these exist - I've done extensive research and never seen one come up for auction or sale anywhere. Generally, most labels create about 5-10 test pressings so I'd say it's safe to assume there's about that many of this in circulation.
