1964 was a busy year for Albert Ayler, who recorded at least seven albums worth of material.
This particular session, a quartet date with trumpeter Don Cherry, bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Sunny Murray, was probably his most significant of the period.
Switching between tenor and alto, Ayler is often ferocious on the six performances, jumping from simple melodies (of which "Ghosts" is the most memorable) to intense sound explorations overflowing with emotion; he even makes Cherry seem conservative.
A truly landmark recording that's essential to any basic understanding of free jazz.

Clean, bright and unmarked labels with just light spindle rash

Practically unmarked under normal light the surfaces display just light hairlines under bright light - these have no audio impact
VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT++
Superb MONO cut, nice and loud with a crystal clear, deep, rich and fresh sound - beautifully recorded and engineered with incredibly immediacy - each instrumental nuance feels practically in-the-room.
My play-check at loud volume revealed no major audio issues of note - no scratches, no loud clicks or pops, no prominent surface noise and no groove-wear or distortion.
A superb copy of this free-jazz masterpiece

The front laminated sleeve is also in wonderful condition - clean, sharp and fresh with no real wear to speak of
and the original plain white and completely square inner sleeve is EXCELLENT with no seam splits
