Description

This set of 3" records was manufactured in 2005 in conjunction with the band's marketing of the Triple Inchophone, a customized, miniature record player that runs at a custom RPM and plays only 3" records.

While the White Stripes originally intended to purchase 1000 Triple Inchophones, they were soon told that any remaining stock had been destroyed, as warehouse space in Japan (where the players were made) is at a premium.

Luckily, 400 Inchophones turned up somewhere and the Stripes took hold of them to couple with the sets of 3" records they'd already begun the process of manufacturing. Those 400 players caused a wild uproar via cable news networks, merch table quarterbacks, excitable eBay flippers and the like.

All the while, there were still an additional 600 3" record sets sitting around with no Inchophones to be paired with. These 3" record sets are the remnants from those original 600 sets from 2005. Once they're gone, they're gone.

All records are one-sided and mono.

Generic Triple Inchophone players can oftentimes be found on eBay listed as "8-ban record player" (taken from Third Man Records Website)
