-original THE ZOMBIES lp ODESSEY & ORACLE
-released by DATE RECORDS in 1968 - date stereo # TES 4013
-FIRST PRESSING with no jacket mention of "TIME OF THE SEASON" - the cover art was changed
when this song became a hit single. this original pressing has the wonderful unaltered and wonderfully psychedelic cover art. later pressings are not nearly as cool. also has the original PRINTED INNER-SLEEVE with ads for other records released on this label (this ZOMBIES lp included) and also ads for a
SUPERPOSTER special offer - picturing psychedelic posters by DYLAN, the byrds,
THE BEATLES etc.
-the lp also has the original GREEN AND WHITE date labels
-matrix numbers stamped into the dead wax: XSM137383-1C / XSM137384-1C (the -1C at the end of the sequence is a common indication of a first pressing)

TIME OF THE SEASON
-an incredible PSYCHEDELIC pop rock record by one of the most interesting bands of the sixties.
-the famous misspelling of "odyssey" in the title was the result of a mistake by the designer of the LP cover, Terry Quirk (who was the flatmate of bass player Chris White). the band, however, claims that the title was deliberate.
-the group began work on the album in June 1967 at EMI's Abbey Road Studios, where earlier in the year
THE BEATLES had recorded Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. by the time the recording was
finished, in late 1967, the Zombies were effectively disbanded, due to lack of financial success.
-this LP has come to be regarded as one of the greatest of all pop albums, with indelible melodies, complex harmonies, and an air of nostalgia and longing that makes it comparable to such albums as the LOVE lp FOREVER CHANGES and the BEACH BOYS masterpiece PET SOUNDS. it has also appeared on a ROLLING STONE magazine list of the greatest albums of all time.
-ELLIOT SMITH covered "Care of Cell 44" and VELVET CRUSH titled their singles compilation,
A SINGLE ODESSEY, as a misspelled tribute to this ZOMBIES album.

CONDITION:
-this copy has been PLAY TESTED - it plays and sounds great. there is only slight crackle here and there
-the vinyl is clean and shiny with only minor wear and the labels are clean and free of writing
-the cover is bright and clean with only slight wear around the edges. there are no seam splits and there is
no writing or marks on the cover. the inner-sleeve is crisp, clean and free of writing, but is torn in
places along the edges.
