“SCIENCE FRICTION”....HERE IT IS The Holy Grail of punk/new wave records? If rumours are true only about 500 or so of these were left having been withdrawn soon after it was released.This is a monster of a record with the p/s that all serious punk collectors have in there want lists,,,,,,the Withdrawn picture sleeve that says "3D single" on rear of sleeve.Some came with plain company sleeve.This release was withdrawn to make room for the expanded 12" "3D ep"

this is the only time in 40+ years of collecting punk stuff i've seen this 7" with the cover,so i can't compare it to another sleeve,so i cannot tell if this is a real sleeve or a made up sleeve so please bear that in mind before bidding as i've been as honest as i can and don't need stupid feedback,this also reflects in the starting price as well,,someone could get themselves a proper little gem here,i have done some homework on this sleeve and they were only pressed in a very small number to be sent out to dj's before the band withdrawed them and that the sleeve's were very made of very thin paper and this one does match upto that description and it does look old and tired,,it all matches up correct it's from 1977 on virgin label (vs 188) and as the correct matrix no's. which are,,,,VS-188 A-1 (ETCHED) & VS-188 B1 (STAMPED) proving it's an original pressing.

I’m selling one or two records from of my brother’s ‘punk’ collection and found this one by XTC which was withdrawn forty years ago for reasons I’m not sure – not that I know anything about punk at all.
As a former pro DJ, I played main-stream so ‘punk’ was never a genre I was particularly interested in, plus the clubs I played never allowed it to be played.
To be honest, I found it very difficult to project myself into ‘punk’ on any level.

Considering this record has been in storage for the last forty+ years, it is in near mint condition and plays through great on both sides.....

The sleeve is in a poor condition with repair work to one side and tears to the opening edges. It also has a two inch split along the bottom edge towards the opening. It is quite discoloured (stained) and has ink marks on both sides – with the name, ‘Gary’ in small writing in biro to the front bottom corner and the same on the back top left corner. There is also a number written on the back which looks like ‘471’,,this could probably be easily removed but i've never wanted to mess with it,,,
The inner off-white sleeve has no splits, but it is quite wrinkled due to long term storage. Both record cover and inner sleeve are housed in a protective plastic clear cover.so please if you are looking for a mint copy of this p/s (and good luck to that) please don't bid.....
